Accreditation & Licensure
The Master of Science (M.S.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) residential education program in speech-language pathology and the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) residential education program in audiology at Illinois State University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. This accreditation is for a period of 8 years beginning October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2021.
- The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is recognized nationally as the organization that maintains standards of ethical conduct and professionalism in the fields of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Any individual who wishes to provide or supervise clinical services and resides in the United States must obtain ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
- The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation requires speech-language pathologists and audiologists to obtain a state license to practice in Illinois.

The Illinois State Board of Education issues the Illinois Educator License. All graduate students in the Speech Pathology program must complete the following steps to be eligible for this license:
- Once admitted to the speech language pathology program, admission will be provisional pending receipt of passing TAP (Test of Academic Proficiency) scores. Students will be permitted to register for the first term of graduate courses, but registration will be blocked for future terms until proof of passing TAP scores are received.
- Students can substitute the ACT/SAT for the TAP.
