Biography
Dr. Jean Sawyer (she, her) is a professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She earned her doctorate at the University of Illinois. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in stuttering and is a consultant to speech-language pathologists who treat stuttering. She also teaches undergraduate courses in professional writing and speech science.

Dr. Sawyer's teaching interests are in fluency disorders, counseling, professional writing, and cultural diversity.
Research Interests & Areas
Dr. Sawyer's research interests are in fluency disorders, specifically in characteristics of stuttered speech and treatment efficacy. Her efficacy research currently centers on parent-based interventions for preschool children who stutter.
