Study Abroad and Travel Experiences

The CSD department strives to offer a short-term international experience at least once per year as an additional opportunity for self-discovery, personal growth, and learning. Through travel, students can learn about themselves, other cultures, and clinical practices in a different cultural setting.

Illinois State University Study Abroad: Portugal, Morocco, & Spain – Spring Break 2026


🌍 Travel Dates: March 6–15, 2026
📌 Destinations: Portugal, Morocco, and Spain
🎓 Eligibility: Open to students in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
💲 Program Fee: $4,900 (includes international airfare, ALL lodging, ALL meals, and ALL in-country travel)

Join us for a 10-day global learning experience exploring health, rehabilitation, and communication across cultures. This customized Therapy Abroad program will take students through three diverse countries, offering immersive visits to clinical, academic, and cultural sites.

Highlights include:

  • Guided tours through Lisbon, Casablanca, Rabat, and Madrid
  • Visits to top institutions like ESSAlcoitão (Portugal), IHEPS (Morocco), and ISEP (Spain)
  • Cultural excursions to Jerónimos Monastery, Hassan II Mosque, Plaza Mayor, and more
  • Meaningful engagement with international professionals in speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and nutrition

This program is designed to deepen students’ global awareness, cultural competence, and professional insight in therapeutic and educational settings—all while experiencing the rich history, architecture, and cuisine of Southern Europe and North Africa.
