Strategic Plan 2021-2026

Our strategic plan delineates our vision of the future and the progress we are making.

Accreditation and Licensure

The Master of Science (M.S.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) education program in speech-language pathology and the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) education program in audiology at Illinois State University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, a reputable organization that requires individuals to obtain ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence for clinical services. This accreditation is for a period of 8 years beginning October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2029

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association: 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or (301) 296-5700.

The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation requires speech-language pathologists and audiologists to obtain a state license to practice in Illinois.

The Illinois State Board of Education issues the Illinois Educator License. All graduate students in the Speech Pathology program must complete the following steps to be eligible for this license:

  • Once admitted to the speech language pathology program, admission will be provisional pending receipt of passing TAP (Test of Academic Proficiency) scores. Students will be permitted to register for the first term of graduate courses, but registration will be blocked for future terms until proof of passing TAP scores are received.
  • Students can substitute the ACT/SAT for the TAP.

Department Manual

The Department Manual is a compilation of all department and clinic policies with which CSD students should be familiar. This manual is updated at least annually or more often if policies or procedures change.
