The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is grateful for the ongoing support of the many ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists who serve as external clinical educators/preceptors to our graduate students. We are always looking to expand our portfolio of external placements for our students. If you are interested in becoming an external clinical educator/preceptor please contact us for more information.

Upon completion of these courses, ASHA members can earn free continuing education units.
CAPCSD Clinical Education Modules
As a member of the Council of Accredited Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD), our department is able to offer free access to the CAPCSD courses on clinical education. There are currently two courses, each comprised of five learning modules, offered:
- Foundations of Clinical Education
- Effective Student-Clinical Educator Relationships
Upon completion of these courses, participants can choose to earn free continuing education units through ASHA or AAA. Each module is worth 2 professional development hours; each course is worth 10 professional development hours.
If you use the ASHA CE registry, completion of professional development in the area of supervision will be automatically recorded in your ASHA account. If you do not use the ASHA registry, please follow the steps in this document to self-report the completion of professional development in the area of supervision.
