My undergraduate degree is not in communication sciences and disorders. Can I still apply to the graduate programs?

For speech pathology applicants, the Graduate Admissions Committee will consider only those applicants who have grades for at least 25 hours of undergraduate coursework in communication sciences and disorders. Therefore, students who wish to complete the Master’s degree program in Speech Pathology, should first apply to Illinois State as a graduate student at large or a second degree bachelor’s student in order to complete these undergraduate deficiency hours. Once a student has grades for at least 25 major hours, he or she can apply directly to our graduate program. If admitted at that time, he or she will need to complete the remainder of the undergraduate prerequisite courses as well as all graduate program requirements. Additional information regarding this topic may be obtained by contacting the departmental adviser.

For Au.D. applicants, completion of coursework in hearing science, audiology, and aural rehabilitation is required. These 3 courses will be offered during the summer term and must be completed before beginning the Au.D. courses.
