Smaldino Receives Presidential Award

Joseph Smaldino

Dr. Joseph Smaldino, featured in the April 8 issue of CASNews for winning the Frederick S. Berg Award, has been honored with yet another prestigious award. Smaldino received a 2013 Presidential Award at the recent American Academy of Audiology Convention.

The Presidential Awards started as a tradition in 1998, and recognizes Academy volunteers who have gone “above and beyond.”

According to an article in Audiology Now, Smaldino “received this honorable award for his work with students over countless years and his leadership in state and specialty organizations. His enthusiasm encourages out-of-the box thinking, professional networking, and a critical need for awareness and advocacy.”

Al Bowman Farewell Dinner

A farewell dinner for Dr. Bowman and Linda Bowman is being held July 26th at 6pm at the Marriott in uptown Normal.Tickets can be purchased for tables of 10.  The department is offering to buy 3 tables, thanks to our Chair, Ann Beck.

The campus community is invited to say goodbye and thank you to President and Mrs. Al Bowman for their service to the University at a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center.

CSD Spring Banquet

Spring Banquet is coming soon. You still have time to buy tickets for $25. Banquet is THIS SATURDAY! Banquet will begin at 6PM and dinner will be served around 6:30PM! I’m excited to see everyone there!

I have had a few people email me and ask about banquet tickets. NSSLHA decided that if you did not have a chance to purchase your ticket during the times we were selling them then you can still purchase your ticket for $25 if you contact me. (cdgalle@ilstu.edu
