Opportunities for Student Input

Student Advisory Board

The primary purposes of the CSD Student Advisory Board (SAB) shall be (a) to serve as a liaison between students and department faculty members/supervisors and (b) to facilitate appropriate communication between all CSD student RSO's. The Board will furthermore assist with the establishment of department policies relating to these purposes.

If you have a problem with a CSD academic or clinical course or instructor, please contact the Clinic Director/Graduate Program Director to discuss the process for submitting a Student Concern Form. 

Procedures for Complaints Against the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Department level student complaints or concerns should be submitted to the Department Chair for resolution.  If Department level resolution is not satisfactory, students may avail themselves of the Conflict Resolution: Student Grievance procedures offered through the Dean of Students (//www.deanofstudents.ilstu.edu/help/conflict_resolution/mediation.shtml).

Procedures for Complaints Against Graduate Education Programs:

A complaint about any accredited program or program in candidacy status may be submitted by any student, instructional staff member, speech-language pathologist, audiologist, and/or member of the public.

Complaints about programs must meet the following criteria:

a) be against an accredited graduate education program or program in candidacy status in audiology and/or speech language pathology,
b) relate to the Standards for Accreditation of Entry-Level Graduate Education Programs in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology,
c) clearly describe the specific nature of the conduct being complained about, which must have occurred at least in part within 5 years of the date the complaint is filed, the relationship of the complaint to the accreditation standards, and provide supporting data for the charge.

Procedures for Complaints Regarding Standards and Standards Compliance:

Students can direct complaints to the Council on Acaadmic Accreditation (CAA) regarding standards and standards compliance. Complaints may be filed by any student, instructional staff member, speech language pathologist, audiologist, and/or member of the public.

Complaints must meet the following criteria:

a) must relate to the accreditation process, decisions, or actions or activities of the council;
b) clearly describe the specific nature of the conduct being complained about, which must have occurred at least in part within 1 year of the date the complaint is filed, and provide supporting data for the charge.
